I did not find every one of the covers and text above “inappropriate”. On the contrary, a few of them are quite good. Let’s take it from the top….
The “Invisible Dick” was written at a time when the majority of minds weren’t lounging in the gutter 24/7 (I am from this period). This cover suggests that there will be a story about a whiz-kid who became invisible through some experiment of his own making, and begs the question, “will he ever be visible again”? A good cover for the time it was written in.
“How Green were the Nazis” Is a better cover. It grabs the eye and makes you follow the off-colored trees around until you recognize that they form a symbol. The book title makes me curious — just how “green” were they? The Nazis were found of hanging signs over the entrances to their “death shower” which translated in to various, “Cleanliness is the way to Purity” slogans. Were they really “clean” fanatics, and did they really care about their “footprint” on nature, or was this all part of the national propaganda? Sounds like a good read to me.
When I saw, “How to Shit in the Woods”, “The long Journey of Mr. Poop” and “Goodbye Testicles” , I nearly split in half laughing. However each deals with a very important issue — all though, the testicle book appears to have been written a good 40 years or more a ago and I am a bit surprise the topic was even addressed as it was obviously intended for kids with pet male dogs that were going to be neutered.
The “How to ….” book is a MUST for anyone who is planning on going out camping the old fashion way. There is definitely a right and a wrong way to perform that bodily function in a wooded area with safety.
The “….Mr Poop” book is along the same lines as a more recent book that made a big “splash” (pun intended) entitled, “Everybody Poops” and an even longer laundry list of similar Body Science books for very young children. How do you dress up a book cover on a topic of poop? I realize the afore mentioned comment can evokes a billion snappy responses, but I will leave that one lay (and smell) where I found it.
“Fancy Coffins” is just plain gross and ranks right up there with any book on how to vasectomize yourself! This is a subject that simply does not translate into a DIY.
“Who Cares about Elderly People” is a very important subject and social theme for preschool children. I find this book cover picture and title very appropriate.
“Zombie Raccoons and Killer Bunnies” looks like a wonderful, bump-in-the-night Halloween read.
By the way, I raised hundreds of bunnies, and vicious attack rabbits do occur. Though very, VERY rare, an 8-10 lb rabbit that will stalk and attack you is no laughing matter. They are faster than small dogs, and pack a double punch – raiser-sharp teeth, and powerful hind legs with nails that can rip you badly. I witnessed the adult rabbit that I am referring to regularly stalk, killing, and eating small creatures (he went into the stew pot the day I became his next target!).
“Quilt in a Day — Still Stripping after 25 Years”, gets my vote as the BEST cover and title match for an otherwise dull subject. This person knew how to grabs the attention of her audience — hats off to Ms. Burns!
Anyone from Minnesota, North or South Dakota, who is an old machinery buff, knows that the photo and title, “Old Tractors and the Men Who Love Them — How to keep your tractor happy and your family running” are a perfect photo-text match. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is off on this cover. No explanation is possible…You simply have to live here to understand it.
I actually saw Are Women Human in a used bookstore yesterday! It was between Final Exit and Women Who Love Too Much.

I own Everybody Poops.
