Christiania is a large neighborhood in Copenhagen, Denmark that’s also known as Freetown, Christiania. The area was founded by hippies and 1971 when they moved into an abandoned military area. There are about 1,000 residents in Christiania and they trade marijuana freely. Attempts to enforce the law in Christiania have led to conflicts with the police over the years and even raids.
