One universal human quality that we’ve all experienced is how quickly time passes. No matter who we are or what we do, life seems to fly by.
Photographer Tom Hussey spoke recently with an 80-year old World War II veteran, who told him that he “didn’t understand how he could be 80 years old, as he felt he was still a young man. He Just didn’t feel it was possible he could be 80 years old”.
Hussey took this moment to heart, and decided to create a series of photos that highlighted the separation between mind and body before the eyes of his subjects. He found a series of doppelgangers separated by about 50 years, and the results are both poignant and beautiful.
