To soak in the highly-detailed and trippy works of Alex Grey is to have one’s third eye pried open. The artist documents his experiences with LSD, as well as the “endless love and unity” he realized from taking the drug, in his mind-bending paintings, which are often large enough to envelop the entire wall of a gallery.
Grey has been around for decades. You’ve probably seen his work on a t-shirt at a music festival, the wall of a college dorm, or the cover of an album belonging to a band like Tool or The String Cheese Incident.
