Europe’s tallest peak, Mount Elbrus stands at 18,510 feet. It has been climbed by many people but Russian powerlifter Andrey Rodichev is the the first to do it with a 75kg (165lb) barbell on his back.
To prepare for the challenge, Andrey trained twice per day seven days a week by running in the morning and weightlifting in the evening.
Andrey hopes his feat will draw attention to the sport of Powerlifting in his hometown, Murmansk.
The bar Andrey carried to the summit has been installed as a monument atop Mount Elbrus in honor of his epic accomplishment. The entire journey was filmed and a documentary is in the making.
