Flat earthers twist themselves into knots to maintain their belief that the world is flat.
It’s not, in case you’re curious, and you can verify it yourself. Despite this, a small group of online enthusiasts believe that the centuries-old conclusion is still up for debate.
These individuals will vehemently argue about horizon lines, NASA conspiracies, and more, to claim that the globe earth is a deception maintained by billions for some vague reason. What they think we gain from asserting the earth is round is unclear, but their passion is undeniable.
Now, a new theory has emerged in the flat earth community: the earth is round, but not in the conventional sense.

Dubbed the “Great Ice Ball” theory, it suggests our world is nearly flat, situated on a massive ice sphere that could harbor other worlds. According to Reddit users, this would make our earth’s surface area 3.6×10^13 km² — larger than the sun.
Some might ask for “proof.” If you’re one of them, you probably haven’t been involved in flat earth theories for long. There’s virtually no evidence supporting this, and even the image’s creator seems unsure of its implications. Would there be multiple earths? Is the ice ball hollow? No one knows!

The number of people who believe this theory is quite small. Believing in a flat earth already requires a leap, but believing we’re on a giant ice ball requires even more mental gymnastics.
Nonetheless, it’s fun to speculate. I just wish they’d revisit the classic idea that we all live on a giant turtle.
