Named in 1934, the Devil’s Golf Course barely works for this, but it had to be added. The spikey ground and rough textures led early explorers to say “Only the devil could play golf” here. There’s an actual golf course a few miles away in Furnace Creek. Seriously all these names should give you an idea of how hot it gets in Death Valley.
