Jen Chavez found Marla in a no-kill shelter.
“In 2016, I lost my sweet kitty, Estabon, of 12 years,” Jen told. “I knew I wanted to recuse another cat after the loss. I went to our local no-kill shelter and was walking around. I spotted Marla’s little strange face peeking out of a cat tower. I was a bit shocked by her appearance but needed to know more.”

The woman immediately approached the little critter. “She was shy but very sweet and the employees at the shelter were very protective of her. She had been at the shelter for two years after being dumped there at two days old. I knew her little strange face would fit right in with our family.”

It was then that Jen realized the resemblance. “[The shelter employees] let me know there was a meme floating around that compared her to Steve Buscemi and I thought it was hilarious.”

Now, Marla is 5 years old and part of a big happy family. “My husband and I have three little boys and 4 rescue cats, Ferret, Marla, Hank, and a one-eyed kitty named Willy,” Jen said.

“[Marla] is funny, very sweet and playful with the other kitties. She LOVES to eat and enjoys it when my husband sings to her.”
But Marla’s talented and Steve Buscemi is not the only celebrity that she resembles

Jen hopes that Marla can encourage people to adopt from their local shelters and to seek out the animals who have been there the longest or who may not be the cutest. “They just might change your life,” she said.
