Ever wonder how those wonderful minty striped Christmas treats were made?
First they mix sugar, water, and corn syrup together and heat it until it’s a beatiful mush.
Then they add some crushed peppermint into the mix and fold.
They put it into a pneumatic folder to increase the spread.
The move the dough into a mixer.
And that stretches it out until the dough is thin and malleable.
They heat it again in a roller.
They move the combined dough and candy to a roller that slowly slims the roll down.
It’s meters long but by the end it will come out thiner.
And thinner. It also twists it.
Until finally it is the desired size, and is bent to add the hook and wrapped.
