Joel Cervantes Macias noticed 89-year-old Fidencio Sanchez as he was pushing his popsicle cart in the Little Village area of Chicago. He and his wife have recently lost their only daughter and they’d been selling popsicles to pay the bills. Then This Fidencio’s wife fell ill and couldn’t help him with the cart anymore, so he was struggling to push it alone. Joel said, “It broke my heart seeing this man that should be enjoying retirement still working at this age.” He wanted to help the old man and bought 20 popsicles for $50. But then Joel together with his friend Joe Loera started a campaign at GoFundMe. They wanted to raise $3,000 but got a lot more than they expected. People from all over the world donated $250,000 in just five days! That’s simply amazing.
