Very good Canadian police dogs and their co-workers have been getting together for very badass photoshoot. And for a noble cause. Proceeds from the sale of the Vancouver Police Dog Calendar 2019 go towards the B.C. Cancer Foundation and B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation. The calendar costs $15.00, and you can order it from anywhere in the world.
Social Media Liaison officer for the Vancouver Police Department, Anne-Marie Clark explains: “The calendar was started in 2009 by retired Vancouver Police Sergeant Mike Anfield in honour of his wife, VPD Constable Candy Anfield who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2004. The police dogs all followed their handlers instructions during the photo shoots and were good dogs, you can see their personalities showing through in the pics.”
Vancouver Police Department currently have 15 dog teams in the Canine Unit. Each team is comprised of a police service dog and their human handler. The police services dogs are important to our department because they are trained in a variety of disciplines which include: tracking, criminal apprehension, evidence recovery, narcotics, firearms and explosives detection. The Canine Unit responds to over 10,000 calls for service each year in the city of Vancouver, and to Lower Mainland police agencies who require the services of a police dog and handler.
